Was actief dammer in studietijd in Groningen 1974-1980. Daarna nam werk en gezin veel tijd in beslag. Vijf jaar gewerkt op Curacao (1990-1995) daar nog damrubriek wekelijks verzorgd en redelijk wat gespeeld met dammers als Raoul Alias, hele goede speler.
